old uncle lester is back and more brash and brazen than ever before in the bionic lester mk1.5 from industrial music electronics, a reissue of the mk1 dual filter circuit with the yet unreleased mk2 interface. designed around a rare and vintage switched capacitor filter ic, bionic lester is a dual multimode filter that
delivers smooth signal sculpting alongside generous saturation and aliasing, transforming tones into treacherous new shapes in every knob twist. also included in this limited reissue is the never-released aggro eddie mixer expander, which has been directly incorporated into the panel for onboard, cable-free, filter mixing
fun.
just like the original mk1 bionic lester, the 1.5 version provides multiple dedicated filter type outputs, with both low and band pass for both filters alongside a switchable third type that includes high pass, allpass, and notch modes. in addition to changing the filter type, each mode provides a different flavor of lester's
uniquely skronky saturation, delivering a wide palette of tones from trashy to transcendent. each of these filter type options are available from the direct outputs at the bottom of the module, while the mixers for each filter allow you to sum together multiple types at the mix, a, and b outputs. separate inputs and drive
amount controls for each filter are ideal for stereo and dual mono processing, while the helpful normalization from a to b enables parallel signal sculpting of a single source.
while the shared resonance control for both filters is incapable of self-oscillating at its highest setting, the resonance control is highly interactive with saturation character, providing plenty of spots both nasty and sweet along its range to explore. the alias button alters the internal sampling rate of the filter,
allowing for some subtle aliasing effects from low cutoff frequencies in the low setting while the high setting grins with murderous excitement at mr. nyquist himself. independent dual inputs for controlling either filter separately are onboard as well as manual controls for classic knob-twiddling techniques. the clock source
button provides one final opportunity for profane sonic warfare, allowing you to set channel b to follow channel a's clock, or even combine both clock signals for controlling channel b, inviting truly horrifying and chaotic tones. a blast from the eurorack past refined once again for greater gratuity of fearsome and fuzzy
filter fun, you won't want to miss bionic lester mk1.5 from industrial music electronics.
