this is an expander module that can be used in combination with a-138a or a-138b to expand the number of inputs by 5, i.e. 9 (or even 14) inputs altogether. it is a very simple
module and is made only of 5 sockets, 5 potentiometers with knobs and 5 resistors. it has been suggested by members of the yahoo group and was planned originally as a diy project
only. due to some inquiries we decided to manufacture this module even for a-100 users who are not familiar with diy.
due to the symmetry of the sockets and potentiometers two front panel alignments are possible that differ only in the printing. the picture shows both types. the left version has
the same positions of sockets and knobs as the a-138a/b, for the right version the positions of sockets and knobs have been exchanged. as there was no majority for one of the two
versions we decided to offer the module for the time beeing only with a plain front panel. the front panel silk-screen is one of the most expensive components for such a simple
module - especially in small quantities. provided that there are sufficient inquiries we consider to offer the module even with a printed front panel. but for this version we
have no delivery date available.
a little bit of soldering is necessary to connect the a-138x to the a-138a/b: 2 wires have to be soldered to the a-138a/b. if the main module (a-138a/b) is sent in to doepfer the
connection is made free of charge (please ask your dealer if he also offers this service). the following document describes how to connect
a-138x and a-138a/b
this module has a maximum current draw of 10ma. it requires 8 te/hp worth of space to fit in a eurorack frame.
